However, many prefer relying on their phone cameras to capture these moments. But some have canon cameras and prefer using them.

If you’re one of those who have such cameras, you must have realized the importance of using a strap. Straps make it a breeze to carry canon cameras around.

In this article, we explained how to put a strap on a canon camera with ease. So, read so you can fix the strap on your camera the right way.

Steps On How To Put A Strap On Your Canon Camera

A new canon camera comes with the strap in the pack. If you don’t have a strap for your camera, you can get one. But always ensure to buy genuine and quality straps.

Now, follow the steps below to fix it on your camera.

Step 1: Unwrap the strap from the pack and locate two plastic knobs/chips. The first plastic chip, which is smaller, is called the strap keeper. The second plastic chip, which has the canon logo, is called the buckle.

Also, on the body of the strap, you will see the canon logo boldly written on it. That side of the strap should be facing upward when fixing the strap.

Step 2: Loosen the strap’s end attached to the buckle through the strap keeper. You straightened the loose tip and secured the strap keeper to it.

Step 3: Locate the strap mount eyelet on the camera. It is located on the upper end of both sides of the camera. The left and right eyelets will both take in a strap.

After which, you pass the loose tip of the strap through one of the strap mount eyelets. You should feed the strap beneath the eyelet and pull gently from the top.

After that, fold and pass the incoming strap through the strap keeper to form a double strap. Throughout this stage, ensure that the strap is not twisted and inline.

Step 4: Gently slack the buckle side of the strap and create a loop. Hold the end of the doubled-strap from the strap keeper and feed it through the buckle. This incoming strap should pass underneath the buckle and not the top. The top of the buckle has the canon logo written on it.

Step 5: Feed the incoming strap through the other end of the buckle and pull firmly. Always ensure the strap is not twisted. Hold the strap’s loop end on the buckle’s side and pull gently to align and overlap the underneath strap. This process should be uniform and not twisted too.

Step 6: Adjust and position the strap keeper towards the camera’s strap mount eyelet and ensure it is firm.

Repeat these steps above from 1-6 for the other end of the strap.

Congratulations, you just successfully put a strap on your camera. You can now move around with your camera conveniently. Always ensure you follow the steps above to place a strap on your canon camera to avoid a mishap.

Factors You Need To Check On Before Purchasing A Canon Camera

Photography is a skill that professionals have mastered over a period. You probably have seen a couple of photos that blew your mind. Professional photographers use different cameras for different shoots.

Getting the perfect camera as a picture-lover will do you a lot of good in your photography journey. A camera with too many functions and buttons can be easily confusing.

You have to consider some factors before buying your first canon camera. These factors are:

The kind of Canon camera:

Canon cameras usually come as compact, mirror less, and DSLRs (which stand for digital single-lens reflex).

The compact cameras are great for beginners because they are very portable, easy to use; there is no room for changing lenses. They are mostly regarded as point-and-click.

The DSLRs camera uses a lens that allows light into the camera. The light hit on the mirror to create an image on the viewfinder. The DSLRs have interchangeable lenses and auto-focus technology.

The mirror less camera gives room to switch lenses, but it differs from the DSLRs in the way images are captured. It has no mirror but uses an electronic viewfinder and LCD located behind the camera.

Price/Cost:

Another important factor you’ve to consider is the camera’s price. No one will recommend learning how to drive a car using a Lamborghini. Starting with a low-budget car is the best decision.

The same thing applies to photography. But if you have the money to spend, then get yourself a high-end camera.

Simple interface:

A camera with a simple interface and easy-to-use controls is a wise choice. Imagine if you are handed a camera with a complex interface and plenty of buttons.

You will be confused and frustrated even before you start operating the camera. Using a simple camera will build your confidence in the long run.

Video feature:

The advent of social media platforms such as TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram has revolved around the camera industry.

The pictures-only has slowly ended. People want to capture memories as video. Interestingly, some of the canon cameras for beginners have video options.

The ability to switch lenses:

This is common with DSLR and mirror less cameras. The kit lens can help to stabilize and improve your image.

Changing lenses also comes with a price. You will have to spend more money to buy a new lens. Also, remember that there are cheap and inferior lenses out there in the market. But, Canon cameras provide excellent lenses and at affordable prices.

The megapixels’ size:

Is another important feature to keep in mind. Megapixel has a way of affecting the image quality of your photos. Generally, a higher megapixel will result in a better picture.

How To Maintain Your Canon Camera?

You have spent quite some money to procure your canon camera. You need to take good care of it. You can adhere to the following instructions to keep your camera in good shape and elongate its lifespan:

Always avoid the following harmful materials to come in contact with your camera; sand, dust, liquid (water), smoke, dirt, extreme sunlight or cold and very high humidity.

In case you observe any of these on your camera, you can clean it up with the right tools.

You can procure a cleaner kit from any canon office at a small price. The kit contains basic tools like a bristle brush, cotton material, etc.

With a bristle brush, you can remove dirt and dust from your camera lens. Extend the lens to full length to properly clean it.

Ensure to remove sand/dust particles from the camera mirror and lens with a simple air blower. Avoid high-pressure blowers, as it can damage the camera.

Do not expose your camera lens to direct sunlight for too long, as this may damage your lens and even cause your camera to ignite into flame.

Always use alcohol-based liquid to clean your lens glass and LCD screen. Apply the alcohol-based liquid directly on the cotton material and not the lens or screen.

You can use filters and lens caps to protect your lens when it’s not in use.

Other tips on how to maintain your camera are as follows:

  • Always ensure the strap is properly fixed.
  • Ensure to store your camera in a place of low humidity. And free from direct sunlight.
  • Always detach your battery when not in use for a long time.
  • Always check the functionality of your camera before embarking on any photo journey.

Conclusion

The main essence of the strap is to create support and avoid mishaps. It also allows you to have a better grip on your camera with great stability. A strap camera gives you convenience and frees your hands to do other things.

You can hang a properly strap camera over your waist, shoulder, wrist, and head. Most hikers prefer to hang their straps on their backpacks.

There are different types of straps. You can choose the one that best fits you.
